Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has dismissed claims that a woman is behind the renewed rift within the famous Okoye family, insisting the long-running dispute stems from alleged betrayal, theft, and deep-rooted internal conflicts.
In a series of posts shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the singer, popularly known as Mr P, pushed back against narratives blaming women for the fallout.
“Before you drag any woman into this, no woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years,” he wrote, describing such claims as misleading.
The former member of Psquare said the issues date back more than two decades—long before marriage became part of the family dynamic.
“None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this betrayal and stealing started,” he added.
Mr P also addressed backlash over his decision to stop celebrating his birthday on November 18—the date traditionally shared with his twin brother, Paul Okoye—announcing he will now mark it on November 30.
Responding to critics who argued that family bonds should override disputes, he said those same ties were absent during the period he claims he was being wronged.
“We were not ‘blood’ when they were stealing from me… Now that I’ve uncovered the betrayal, suddenly we’re blood? It doesn’t work like that. We are still in court,” he stated.
He added that distancing himself from certain family members has become necessary for his peace of mind, even if the decision comes at a personal cost.
The latest remarks have reignited public attention on the prolonged dispute involving Peter, his twin brother Paul, and their elder brother, Jude Okoye, which has seen multiple public fallouts over the years.
