A Unique Celebration in Isoko
Dr. Arube Otor, a 55-year-old highlife musician from Delta State, popularly known as Isoko Fela One, is set to marry three women on the same day. The highly anticipated event will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Anglican Church Field in London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
Details of the Marriage Ceremony
The marriage announcement went viral through a flier that features Arube dressed in the same attire as his three brides—Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro—who are all from different parts of Delta State. In a confirmation made over the phone to a correspondent on Wednesday, Arube’s foster son, Emperor Efih (Oscar), stated that the event would proceed as planned at the stated location and time.
Efih also shared that initially, Arube had planned to marry four women, but one of the brides had withdrawn from the marriage for personal reasons.
Arube’s Background and Music Career
Arube, a music legend in Delta, has been active in the Isoko highlife music scene for over 30 years. Efih explained that Arube had been previously married to two women about 20 years ago, but after one of the marriages ended in divorce, he was left with just one wife. Seeking to expand his family, Arube decided to marry four women this year, though one eventually pulled out.
Arube’s music career began as a driver, blending his love for music with his occupation. Over time, he formed a band, which later split, prompting him to create his own dance band named Arube about 12 years ago. Since then, he has released more than 10 albums.
Family Dynamics and Traditional Rites
Although Arube’s three to-be wives are from different communities, none of them hails from Uzere Kingdom, his place of origin. Two of the women have already given birth to children fathered by him, while the third wife is still awaiting the blessing of children. The traditional marriage rites for all three women were performed together about a year ago on the same day.
Where the Wives Are From
The three brides come from various locations within Delta State: Oghenekome from Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East LGA, Ewoma from Oruamudhu Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA, and Oghenekaro from Uroto Quarter, Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA.
This extraordinary event is set to attract attention, as it celebrates both Arube’s unique lifestyle and his longstanding contributions to the Isoko highlife music scene.
