Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has provided a donation of N65 million to benefit 6,166 Kano pilgrims who recently completed the 2023 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Each pilgrim will receive 50 Saudi Riyals (SRA) as a Sallah gift from the governor, an act symbolizing appreciation for the pilgrims’ exemplary conduct during the pilgrimage.

This announcement was made by Alhaji Laminu Rabiu Danbappa, Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, during a post-Arafat briefing in Makkah, shared by Comrade Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the chairman of Kano’s media team for the 2023 Hajj.

Danbappa advised pilgrims to use the governor’s gift and their Basic Travelling Allowances (BTAs) responsibly to avoid financial setbacks that could impact their return journey. He also encouraged them to continue positively representing Kano State and Nigeria in Saudi Arabia.

The board will initiate the issuance of 32kg bags for pilgrims, including the Sallah gifts, on a “first come, first serve” basis to assist with their return travel. Danbappa concluded by urging the pilgrims to pray for peace and prosperity in Nigeria and Kano State, and he extended prayers for Allah to accept their Hajj and grant them a safe journey back home.
