Daniel Amokachi, a former Nigerian international, made fun of Super Eagles “immigrant players” in a Supersport comment.
Additionally, “The Bull” criticized Nigeria for forsaking a productive developmental program for “rejected” players who, in his opinion, have no idea what it means to play for the Super Eagles.
“We can’t take it away from Nigeria in terms of quality,” Amokachi stated. Nigeria is fortunate to have one immigrant athlete every day who plays outside and always says, “I turned down my birth country, I want to play for Nigeria,” even if their home country never sought them out. They won’t even attempt to birth nation squads.â€
Regretfully, Nigeria has abandoned the developmental framework that helped us win the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics and defined that generation.
“We saw how we won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after Stephen Keshi came into play and brought it back to life.”
In Nigeria and throughout Africa, football is a religion. You can see that Osimhen knows what it takes to play for Nigeria by the way he plays if we don’t have a guy like him who sold pure water on the Third Mainland bridge. He runs around the clock to ensure our victory because of this,” Amokachi added.
Additionally, there are athletes who were born and raised outside of Nigeria and are unaware of the requirements to wear the national colors.
“A number of the players have never attended the World Cup and are unaware of what it is. Even 99 percent of those players haven’t experienced the Nigerian stadium being as packed as it was.
