Nigerian artist Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, has shared the reasons for his decision to attend the University of Lagos for his postsecondary education.
The musician said this while chatting with media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on the Channels TV program Rubbin’ Minds, which our correspondent was watching.
Rema claims that he was primarily based in Lagos during his music career, which is why he decided to study at UNILAG.
“Because I live here; in Lagos,” Rema replied when asked why he made the choice.
Rema made headlines lately when she implored the Academic Staff Union of Universities to end the strike that has been plaguing federal and state universities in Nigeria for more than two months.
Rema stated in the interview that he was currently in town and was eager for classes to resume.
He said, “I’m excited to check in with school now that I’m in town.”
When asked how he planned to balance his academics and music career, Rema said that he would sort it out once classes started back up.
He remarked, “I won’t pretend that every choice I’ve made in my life has a 100% plan. But most of them do. Sometimes, regardless of how things work out, I just go for it because I think I can succeed.
Sometimes, though, I just try. I simply give up if I realize it isn’t working. But I follow through if I see that it works. But I did try, at least. That is fortitude.
