The entertainment business has experienced a lot of upheaval in 2022 as a result of the tragic deaths of several well-known celebrities, which shocked and hurt the sector.

Ada Ameh

Ada Ameh, a Nollywood veteran, passed away at the NNPC hospital in Warri, Delta State, on July 17, 2022. She was 48 years old.
A ‘Night of Tributes’ event was organised by the cast and crew of the popular TV series ‘The Johnsons’, in her honour as the lead actress of the series, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Freedom Park, Lagos.
She was buried on Friday, August 26, 2022, in her father’s compound in their hometown of Otukpo, Benue State.

Sola Onayiga

Sola Awojobi Onayiga, a veteran Nollywood actress, passed away on July 18.
The actress with a gap in her teeth gained popularity as Ireti in the Fuji House of Commotion family drama, which is no longer on the air.
Fans of the drama series as well as co-stars Ngozi Nwosu and Jude Orhorha expressed their condolences for Onayiga’s passing.

Sammie Okposo

Sammie Okposo, a well-known gospel singer, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 25, 2022. His age was fifty-one.
Lagos State honored him with a tribute night on Tuesday, December 13, and a singing service the following Wednesday.
On Friday, December 16, Okposo was laid to rest in a private cemetery located in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Biyi Bandele
On Sunday, August 17, 2022, Biyi Bandele, a Nigerian author, dramatist, director of Half of a Yellow Sun, and co-director of the Nigerian television series Blood Sisters, passed away.
On September 23, 2022, a Friday, he was buried in Lagos.
The late filmmaker’s family and close friends attended the low-key event.

MFR Chief Lari Williams
Following a brief illness, Lari Williams, the founding National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, passed away on February 27, 2022, at the age of 81.
On Friday, April 15, 2022, the AGN and the people of Artistes Village celebrated the life and times of the multi-talented artist. On Thursday, April 14, 2022, he was laid to rest in his village of Yala Nkum, in the Cross River State local government area of Ikom.

Rico Swavey
Large Brother After being in an automobile accident, Patrick Fakoya, also known as Rico Swavey, a former housemate from Naija’s third season, was put on life support. On Thursday, October 13, 2022, two days after the accident, he passed away.

On Wednesday, October 19, 22, Retro Citi, Victoria Island, Lagos, will host a night of tribute and a candlelight walk.
Prior to his interment at Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, Lagos, a private service was held on Thursday at the Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu Square.

Nwachukwu Osinachi
At the age of 42, gospel musician Osinachi Nwachukwu passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, following several days of treatment at an unknown Abuja hospital.
In 2017, Nwachukwu and Prospa Ochimana collaborated on the song “Ekwueme,” which catapulted both artists into the spotlight.

In response to allegations that her death was caused by domestic abuse, her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, was charged with 23 counts of culpable homicide by the Federal Government.

Oloyede Tafa
At the age of 69, Yoruba actor John Adewuni, well known as Tafa Oloyede, passed away on February 1 in his Osogbo home.On Thursday, February 10, the Osun chapter of the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Producers Association of Nigeria hosted a concert in memory of the late Adewunmi.

On Friday, February 11, the late actor’s body was buried in Ede, Osun, the place of his birth.

Amuta Romanus
Romanus Amuta, a veteran actor best known for his role as “Natty” in the popular soap opera “New Masquerade,” passed away on February 9, 2022, at the age of 79 following a protracted illness.

During the 1980s, The New Masquerade was one of the most watched soap operas.
He departed from his spouse, Cordelia, and their six offspring.

Yinka Ogundaisi
On Wednesday, June 15, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Lagos, the late renowned actor Yinka Ogundaisi passed away.
In Ibadan, the actor who played Village Headmaster was laid to rest that same evening.
