Taraba Governor Dismisses Rift Claims, Says Ties With Danjuma Remain Strong

Jalingo
— Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has dismissed speculations of a strained relationship between his administration and elder statesman and former Defence Minister, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.), insisting that their relationship remains “sound, firm and solid.”

The governor spoke on Thursday during a solidarity visit by traditional rulers from Wukari, his hometown, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

Kefas said General Danjuma, a respected leader in the state, fully understands his leadership capacity and development vision for Taraba, and is not influenced by critics seeking to sow discord.

“Some people go to General Danjuma to criticise me, but he knows me better than they do,” the governor said.
“As a soldier, he understands discipline, capacity and leadership, and he is not disturbed by those who spread falsehoods against me.”

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that Taraba’s more than 80 ethnic groups deserve fair representation and equal opportunities in the state’s development agenda.

He also urged residents to register with the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that political alignment with the ruling party at the federal level would help attract greater support and development benefits to Taraba State.

On security and humanitarian concerns, Kefas assured residents that internally displaced persons (IDPs) would soon return to their communities. He disclosed that a pilot resettlement programme had already commenced and would be expanded across Southern Taraba and other affected areas.

Earlier, the Aku Uka of Wukari, His Royal Majesty Dr Ishaku Ada Ali, commended the governor for ongoing infrastructure and security projects across the state. He cited key initiatives including internal road construction in Wukari, the Takum Junction flyover, the Forward Operating Base at Ikyaior, and the Wukari–Kente–Riti road.

The monarch described the projects as having long-term economic and social benefits and reaffirmed the support of traditional rulers for Governor Kefas’ administration.
