Victor Osimhen Leads Nigeria Against Uganda – Full Lineup & Tactical Preview

The Super Eagles have confirmed their starting lineup for today’s Group C match against Uganda, with Victor Osimhen taking the captain’s armband in a familiar 4-3-3 formation.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m., with Nigeria aiming to assert their dominance against their East African rivals.

Osimhen, leading the frontline, will be expected to provide the decisive spark in attack, while Moses Simon marks a milestone with his 91st international appearance. The experienced winger continues to be a key outlet for Nigeria, tasked with stretching Uganda’s defense from wide areas.

A fresh face also features in the squad, as Ryan Alebiosu is handed his senior debut. The young defender impressed during training sessions and earns the trust of head coach Éric Chelle to perform in a competitive group-stage encounter.

Nigeria’s starting lineup includes Francis Uzoho in goal, shielded by a back four of Bruno Onyemaechi, Calvin Bassey, Oghenekaro Igoh, and Alebiosu. The midfield trio of Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will aim to control the tempo and link defense with attack. Up front, Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon support Osimhen, with Paul Onuachu providing additional aerial threat and presence in the box.

Uganda, also lining up in a 4-3-3 system, will depend on goalkeeper Denis Onyango for leadership at the back, while former Premier League striker Uche Ikpeazu spearheads their attack. The hosts are expected to adopt an aggressive pressing style, aiming to disrupt Nigeria’s rhythm and secure a crucial result.

The Super Eagles’ bench is stacked with experienced options, including Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, and Alex Iwobi, giving coach Chelle the flexibility to make impactful substitutions if needed.
