Nons Miraj Explains Why She Stepped Away from the Ada Jesus Character

Popular content creator and entertainer Chinonso Ukah, better known as Nons Miraj, has opened up about why she decided to leave behind the Ada Jesus persona that first catapulted her into the spotlight.

In a recent podcast with Taymesan, the skitmaker revealed that while the character helped her gain widespread recognition, it eventually limited how people perceived her. She explained that she felt it was time to evolve and showcase other dimensions of her personality.

“The Ada Jesus character brought me attention, but it also came with restrictions,” Nons Miraj said. “It attracted a certain audience that didn’t align with my personal or professional goals anymore. I wanted to reach a wider audience and create content that reflected more sides of who I am.”

She noted that the character’s fanbase began to skew in ways she hadn’t anticipated. “After the whole Ada Jesus thing, I realized people would get tired of seeing me turn others into yam and fish. My followers became older men, and I thought, ‘I need to show a different side of myself,’” she explained. “I wanted to attract people who appreciated me beyond just comedy—people who could actually connect with me personally.”

Beyond personal connections, the shift was also part of her effort to grow her brand and explore projects outside of the character that made her famous. Nons Miraj, who currently hosts The Hunt Game Show, has made a name for herself in comedy, acting, and digital content creation. Her Ada Jesus skits were known for their humor and memorable performances.

Reflecting on the pressures of public life, she shared how people often focus on big deals without considering the responsibilities that come with them. Her work requires significant investment in projects while balancing personal commitments, which can be challenging despite outward appearances of success.

She also touched on the evolution of her personal relationships, explaining that some friendships changed due to expectations and feelings of entitlement. “I value my friends, but I had to learn to set boundaries to protect my energy,” Nons Miraj said.
