Nigerian comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Aderombi Adedayo, widely known as DeeOne, has opened up about his past relationship with popular fashion designer Veekee James, following comments she recently made about him.
The discussion began after Veekee James, during an appearance on VJ Adams’ podcast, suggested that DeeOne was not someone to be taken seriously. According to her, paying close attention to him was a waste of time, as she claimed she had rarely heard him make meaningful statements. Her remarks quickly gained traction online, sparking reactions from fans and industry observers.
In response, DeeOne took to Instagram to address the situation and offer clarity. The comedian revealed that he and Veekee James were once romantically involved shortly after he left the Big Brother Naija house in 2018. He described their relationship as genuine at the time, stressing that it ended without hostility.
DeeOne explained that one of the major issues between them was his discomfort with feeling controlled in a relationship. He noted that some expectations placed on him made him feel more like an assistant than a partner, which ultimately contributed to their differences. Despite this, he maintained that he treated her well and that there is no lingering resentment between them.
The comedian also emphasized that Veekee’s husband is aware of their past, dismissing any speculation of hidden drama. He went on to wish the fashion designer and her spouse well, stating clearly that he harbors no ill feelings and has long moved on.
Urging fans not to take celebrity disputes too seriously, DeeOne reminded the public that there are many behind-the-scenes details about the entertainment industry that outsiders may never fully understand. He added that negative comments should not always be taken at face value and reiterated that, from his side, there is only goodwill.

According to DeeOne, his response was simply to set the record straight, especially since the comments about him were made publicly. He concluded by apologizing if he had unknowingly offended Veekee James in the past, insisting that his intentions remain peaceful and respectful.
