The Lagos State Police Command has taken social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, into custody following a dangerous driving incident that occurred while he was livestreaming on social media.
According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and resulted in a serious road accident. Police authorities described Peller’s conduct as highly reckless, noting that it not only endangered his own life but also posed a serious threat to other road users.
Confirming the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the influencer was apprehended after a video surfaced showing him driving at an excessive speed during a live broadcast.
“The suspect was observed driving dangerously while streaming live on social media, which led to a motor accident and exposed innocent members of the public to grave danger,” Adebisi stated.
The police spokesperson added that the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. She noted that once investigations are concluded, the findings will be made public and the suspect will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to social media users, particularly influencers and content creators.
He cautioned against using online platforms to promote or engage in reckless, unlawful, or dangerous behaviour, stressing that such actions will attract severe legal consequences.
“Lawlessness of any form will not be tolerated, and offenders will face the full weight of the law,” the Commissioner warned.
