The Nigerian entertainment community has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular actor and digital creator Odira Nwobu has passed away.
News of his alleged death surfaced on Monday after media personality Awuzie Frankline posted a distressing video on social media showing the actor motionless.
Frankline, who appeared visibly shaken, refrained from revealing the circumstances of the incident but hinted that Nwobu may have died only hours after spending a night out in South Africa over the weekend.
In a series of emotional posts, Frankline struggled to process the development.
“God, why! Odira, why would you leave us like this?” he wrote, describing the call he received about the actor’s condition as “devastating.”
He followed with another heart-wrenching message, recalling Nwobu’s recent moments of joy:
“You were vibrant just a few hours ago in South Africa. You even celebrated a thanksgiving service not long ago, surrounded by people who love you. How do you return from that same trip without life? I am in tears. Death is cruel.”
The news also stunned comedian Evan Okoro, who shared Nwobu’s photo with the disbelief-laden caption: “How? No… I refuse to believe this.”
Nwobu’s name trended earlier this year after he survived a severe car crash that left a vehicle mangled beyond recognition.
A video from the scene, which spread widely online, showed rescuers pulling survivors from the wreckage.
