2027 Elections: “We Will Align With PDP If….” — ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that it is open to collaborating with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 elections, but only if the PDP commits to a departure from traditional political norms.

The ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this position clear while responding to remarks by the newly elected PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), who recently expressed openness to a broad opposition coalition in preparation for the 2027 polls.

Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC’s interest goes beyond merely securing political power. “Our focus is on transforming the political landscape of Nigeria, not just on winning elections for the sake of winning,” he said.

He added, “We are willing to work with any party that shares our vision. If the purpose of an alliance is solely to capture power, then there is no point. Cooperation must be based on shared principles, and for us, that means rejecting ‘business as usual’ politics and ensuring that governance serves the people.”

Abdullahi also highlighted the importance of a united opposition in challenging the current government, which he described as having “threatened everything that we know to be good about our country.” He concluded that the ADC would engage with the PDP—or any other party—only if they embrace the ADC’s philosophy of principled, people-focused politics.

This announcement underscores the ADC’s growing role as a potential kingmaker in Nigeria’s opposition politics, signaling that alliances ahead of 2027 will depend on shared values rather than convenience.
