Peter Obi Blasts Government Over ₦7 Trillion Budget Scandal

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has offered words of encouragement to the Super Eagles following Nigeria’s agonizing elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The national team’s campaign came to a bitter end on Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where they drew 1–1 with DR Congo after 120 minutes and ultimately fell 4–3 in a penalty shootout. This marks Nigeria’s second consecutive failure to reach football’s grandest stage.

In a heartfelt message on his 𝕏 account on Monday, Obi acknowledged the emotional weight of the loss while commending the team’s dedication and effort.

“Our Super Eagles, I understand how heavy yesterday’s result must feel,” Obi wrote. “When you step onto the field in green and white, you carry the hopes and heartbeat of the nation. I see the dedication, sacrifices, and tireless effort you give in every match.”

He urged the players not to let this setback define them, emphasizing that true greatness is measured by resilience in the face of adversity.

“Do not allow this moment to break your spirit. Great teams are built on how they respond to challenges. What matters now is standing tall, regrouping, and preparing with even greater focus and discipline. I believe in your ability to come back stronger,” Obi added.

The former Anambra State governor also reminded the squad that the nation’s faith in their talent and potential remains unwavering.

“Let today’s disappointment not overshadow the promise of tomorrow. The Eagle never bows its head; it rises and soars. Keep your heads high and stay committed. Nigeria believes in you, and together, we will fly higher again,” he concluded.

The message serves as a morale boost for the Super Eagles as they look ahead to rebuilding and returning to the global stage with renewed determination.
