Spyro Talks Investments, Clean Music, and High-Profile Bookings: “I Don’t Need Music to Survive”

Nigerian singer Oludipe David, widely known as Spyro, has revealed that music is not his primary source of livelihood despite his success in the industry.

Speaking on the Adesope Live show, the “Who Is Your Guy?” hitmaker explained that he has built a stable financial foundation through strategic investments and a unique position within the event entertainment space.

According to Spyro, he earns more from performing at corporate functions than from mainstream music events.

He noted that major organisations, banks, and high-profile personalities frequently book him because his clean, family-friendly sound fits well with upscale audiences.

“I’ve created a niche for myself,” he said, adding that elite figures such as Tony Elumelu regularly invite him for end-of-year engagements. Spyro also mentioned that only a handful of artistes—like Chike and Johnny Drille—are consistently considered for events where organisers prefer wholesome music suitable for all age groups.

Despite his financial stability, Spyro believes many people misjudge his wealth because he chooses not to flaunt his achievements.

“If I stop making music today, I’m already made,” he said. “People don’t realise it because I don’t brag.”

The singer further shared that outside his music career, he has diversified his income through several investments, ensuring long-term security and stability.
