Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed the frightening medical ordeal that recently led to an emergency surgery, urging Nigerians to take symptoms seriously and avoid pushing their bodies beyond their limits.
During an interview, the award-winning actress explained that what some may consider a routine operation became one of the most alarming health challenges of her life.
“My body finally collapsed from months of stress” — Omotola
According to her, the problem began after a period of intense workload during the production and post-production of her films Mother’s Love and RR.
Juggling responsibilities across two continents and barely managing two hours of sleep a day, she said her body eventually gave up.
Omotola disclosed that she had been rushed to the emergency room multiple times before doctors finally concluded that she needed urgent surgery — a moment she described as both shocking and terrifying.
Gallbladder Complications Led to Major Surgery
The actress recounted discovering a long scar on her stomach after the operation. Doctors later explained that the procedure could not be done through minimally invasive keyhole surgery because her gallbladder had become dangerously enlarged, requiring a more extensive approach.
With her husband away and her children deeply worried, the experience left her emotionally shaken.
A Message to the Public: Don’t Ignore Your Health
Omotola said she chose to go public with her story to ensure others do not ignore warning signs the way she did.

“If you feel sharp pains in your chest or back, don’t brush it aside. Go for a CT scan or MRI immediately,” she advised.
“I kept pushing myself until my body shut down. No work is worth your life.”
The actress expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal and vowed to maintain a healthier balance moving forward.
