Former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has firmly dispelled viral social-media claims suggesting he had passed away, describing the reports as false, baseless, and mischievous.
Obiano, who served as governor from 2014 to 2022, took to his official Facebook page on Friday to directly address the unfounded rumour. In a calm but reassuring statement, he told Anambra residents and supporters that he remains healthy and fully active.
“I woke up to a disturbing rumour about my wellbeing,” he wrote. “Let me personally assure you all that I am alive, strong, and in excellent health. By God’s special grace, everything is perfectly fine.”
Calling out those behind the rumour, Obiano lamented the rising trend of deliberate falsehoods circulated online, noting that it was unclear what anyone stood to gain from such fabrications. He expressed gratitude to everyone who reached out with concern, saying their kindness and prayers were deeply appreciated.
“To everyone who called, sent messages, or said a prayer on my behalf, thank you. Your love and goodwill truly warm my heart,” he added.
Obiano urged the public to ignore the rumour entirely, stressing that he remains focused on his personal commitments and guided by faith.
“Please disregard the fake report. We continue to stay grounded, grateful, and directed by God’s grace. Daalu nu, and may God bless you all,” he concluded.
