Authorities have confirmed the identities of six senior directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence who were abducted by gunmen along the Kabba–Lokoja highway on November 10, 2025.

The victims were reportedly travelling from Lagos to Abuja to participate in a Directorate-level promotion examination when their convoy was ambushed.

According to reports, the incident has sent shockwaves across government circles, heightening concerns about the security of civil servants who frequently travel long distances for official duties.

Victims Identified

The abducted officials have been identified as:

* Mrs. Ngozi Ibeziakor

* Mrs. C. Emeribe

* Mrs. Helen Ezeakor

* Mrs. C. Ladoye

* Mrs. J. Onwuzurike

* Mrs. Catherine Essien

All six are senior academic and administrative staff members of Command Day Secondary School, Ojo, Lagos, under the Ministry of Defence’s education department.

Civil Servants’ Union Reacts

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has condemned the abduction, describing it as “shocking and deeply distressing.”

In a joint statement issued by ASCSN President Shehu Mohammed and Secretary-General Joshua Apebo, the union called for urgent rescue efforts and renewed its appeal for the decentralization of civil service examinations.

“We have always advised the Federal Civil Service Commission to conduct promotion examinations in states instead of compelling workers to travel to Abuja,” the statement read.

“Given the current security challenges and the poor condition of highways, such travel exposes public servants to unnecessary risks.”

Rescue Operations Underway

Security sources confirmed that operatives from the Defence Headquarters and other law enforcement agencies have been mobilized to track down the kidnappers and rescue the abducted directors.
