Davido Commissions Hostel in Honour of Late Mother at Clifford University

Nigerian music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has commissioned a newly constructed student hostel at Clifford University, Owerrinta, Abia State, in honour of his late mother, Dr Veronica Imade Adeleke.

The facility, named the Dr Veronica Adeleke Hostel, was officially unveiled during a ceremony attended by students, faculty members, and several of Davido’s close associates, including nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest.

Speaking at the event, Davido described the project as a deeply personal tribute to his mother, who was a university lecturer and philanthropist before her passing in 2003.

He noted that the hostel stands as a symbol of her commitment to education and service.

“This is not just a building. It’s a piece of my heart, a tribute to the woman who shaped who I am today,” he said during his address.

The hostel is expected to ease accommodation challenges at the university and improve the living conditions of students.

The singer, who has consistently used his platform for philanthropic gestures, encouraged students to stay focused on their goals, stating that “talent may open doors, but purpose keeps them open.”

Chioma Reacts

Davido’s wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, reacted to the development on social media, describing the gesture as “so beautiful.”

Her comment sparked positive reactions across social platforms, with many praising the singer for honouring his mother through education-focused projects.
