ADC Criticizes Tinubu Over Minister Uche Nnaji’s Certificate Forgery Allegations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has faulted President Bola Tinubu for his continued retention of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, despite ongoing allegations of certificate forgery.

In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said it was not surprised by the president’s inaction, describing it as consistent with what it called a “pattern of indifference” to ethical concerns within the administration.

The party referenced public records and official denials by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), both of which have disowned certificates submitted by the minister. Nnaji is accused of presenting an unverified NYSC certificate and claiming a university degree that UNN says was never awarded to him.

The ADC noted that court documents filed by Nnaji himself in a previous matter acknowledged that he did not graduate from the University of Nigeria, further casting doubt on the authenticity of his credentials.

“It is both alarming and disappointing that a person facing such grave allegations remains in a sensitive position in the federal cabinet,” the ADC stated. “We demand the immediate suspension of Mr. Uche Nnaji pending a thorough investigation.”

The party further called for a review of the screening and vetting processes employed by the Senate and security agencies, arguing that the incident points to broader institutional failures.

While neither the presidency nor the minister has responded publicly to the allegations, civil society groups and opposition parties have echoed calls for transparency and accountability.
