Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that he will bow out of the 2027 presidential contest if a younger candidate defeats him in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Atiku said he would gladly support and mentor whoever wins the ticket, calling the ADC a party that prioritises youth and inclusiveness.
“If I run for office, and a young man defeats me, I will accept that. The party we have joined now prioritises youth and women,” Atiku stated.
