Afeez Owo Clears Air on Marriage Controversy, Says Wife Mide Martins Is “Not a Wicked Woman”

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Afeez Abiodun, popularly known as Afeez Owo, has publicly addressed longstanding rumors surrounding his marriage to fellow actress Mide Martins, describing her as “not a wicked woman” and urging the public to disregard negative narratives about their relationship.

Speaking in a recent interview, Owo opened up about the highs and lows of their over 20-year union, including a widely publicized crisis in 2016 that nearly led to a separation.

“My wife is not a wicked woman. She is someone I respect and listen to. We have had our challenges, but we have also grown stronger together,” he stated.

The actor emphasized that their relationship has stood the test of time due to mutual respect, patience, and a deep commitment to family values.

2016 Marital Dispute Revisited

The couple, who married in the early 2000s and share two daughters, faced public scrutiny in 2016 after rumors emerged that they had parted ways. Owo confirmed that there was indeed a serious misunderstanding at the time, but blamed social media and external interference for escalating the situation.

“I left the house out of anger and stayed at a hotel. Social media made everything worse. What was supposed to be a private matter turned into a public scandal,” he said.

According to Owo, certain friends of his wife provided “wrong advice,” which further complicated efforts to reconcile.

Mide Martins Denies Use of Juju in Marriage

Over the years, some sections of the media and online forums have speculated that Owo used juju (black magic) to win Mide’s heart. Both parties have repeatedly dismissed the claim.

In an earlier statement, Mide Martins clarified that she married Owo based on his character and reliability, not supernatural influence.

“He didn’t use juju to marry me. He is a good man, faithful, and has always stood by me,” she said.

Owo reiterated this in his latest comments, calling such rumors baseless and damaging.

“We’ve Learned From Our Mistakes”

Reflecting on their journey, Owo noted that the 2016 fallout was the first and only major crisis in their marriage.

He acknowledged that they have both matured and learned important lessons since then.

“We’ve made mistakes, and we’ve learned from them. No marriage is perfect, but ours has been built on understanding and respect,” he said.

He also advised couples to handle disputes privately and avoid allowing outsiders to interfere in personal matters.

Stronger Together

Despite past challenges, the couple continues to work together in Nollywood and frequently support each other’s careers.

Public Reaction

Fans and industry colleagues have reacted positively to Owo’s comments, with many praising the couple for their honesty and resilience.

The renewed public statement appears aimed at putting lingering speculations to rest.

As of today, Afeez Owo and Mide Martins remain one of Nollywood’s most recognized celebrity couples, admired for their collaborative work and enduring partnership.
