Luxury Mogul Now On The Run: EFCC Declares Sujimoto CEO Wanted

EFCC — Sujimoto CEO Denies Fraud Allegations, Points to Sour Enugu Contract

In a headline-grabbing development on Friday, September 5, Nigeria’s premier anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has officially declared Olasijibomi “Suji” Ogundele, the flamboyant CEO behind Sujimoto Luxury Construction, a wanted man for alleged money laundering and fund diversion.

The Wanted Notice

In a public notice signed by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s spokesperson, the agency described Ogundele as a 44-year-old native of Ori-Ade, Osun State, with his last known address at G‑29, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The EFCC urged anyone with credible information on his whereabouts to come forward to any of its zonal offices nationwide.

A Pattern Of Allegations

This isn’t Ogundele’s first dance with law enforcement. Back in October 2024, he was briefly detained by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja over an alleged $325,000 real estate fraud.

A client, Kabiru Ibrahim, had accused him of taking the payment for a three-bedroom unit in LeonardoBySujimoto—without delivering the flat or issuing a refund.

Whispers Behind the Curtain

Beyond the headlines lie murmurings of distrust and unfulfilled promises. In early 2025, a Lagos investor claimed to have invested ₦70 million in a high-return scheme with Sujimoto—but despite rollovers and interest, he was only partially paid back, with ₦90 million still outstanding.

Though Ogundele has responded to some allegations—such as denying a ₦300 million scam involving a retired professor—his reputation is navigating stormy waters.

The Man Behind the Brand

Ogundele’s story is one of dramatic ascension. From modest origins in Agege, Lagos, he built Sujimoto into a household name—famed for ultra-luxury residential landmarks such as LeonardoBySujimoto and the landmark Lucrezia, set to be Africa’s tallest residential tower

He’s also publicly promoted loyalty-driven leadership. As he once urged his executive team: not just by job title, but by honoring long-term commitment.

He shared that the company supports staff with rent and school fees, and sees its employees as the “foundation of [its] legacy”.

But the contrast between the sheen of luxury and the allegations of deception now looms large—making the unfolding saga as compelling as any thriller.
