Senator Gbenga Daniel Dispels Defection Rumors After APC Suspension

Senator Gbenga Daniel, who served as Governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, has categorically denied speculations that he plans to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The denial comes in the wake of his suspension by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside party chieftain Kunle Folarin. The suspension, linked to alleged anti-party conduct, fueled rumors of Daniel’s possible political shift.

But in a statement released on Monday through the OGD Media Office, the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District made it clear that he has no intention of leaving the ruling APC.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Gbenga Daniel is and remains a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a Senator and remains on the platform of the APC,” the statement clarified.

Observers believe that the reaffirmation is aimed at stabilizing his political base amid growing uncertainties in Ogun politics. The APC in the state has been grappling with internal disputes that threaten its cohesion.

Frontpagenews.ng reports that Daniel’s clarification has sparked fresh conversations about loyalty, party discipline, and the future of the APC in Ogun State.
