The 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba concluded on Saturday, and Delta State, the hosts, became overall victors in the weightlifting competition with a total of 46 medals—21 gold, 16 silver, and 9 bronze.
A statement from the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation, signed by Media Officer Amaechi Agbo, claims that Delta won the competition, besting 23 other states, including Oyo, Bayelsa, Lagos, and Edo, which placed second, third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
Bayelsa finished third with seven gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, while Oyo State placed second with eleven gold, one silver, and three bronze.
Lagos State placed fourth with 18 medals, consisting of 6 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze. The hosts for 2021, Edo State, had a total of 17 medals: four gold, seven silver and six bronze to stay fifth.

Nineth place went to Federal Capital Territory, which won two gold and one bronze medal.
Despite this, Plateau State placed tenth with one gold, one silver, and six bronze medals. The weightlifting competitions started on December 5 and took place in the multipurpose Hall of the Orchid Hotels in Asaba.
