“Kogi Is Bleeding, Please Save Us” — Jaywon Cries Out to Tinubu

Nigerian singer Oluwajuwonlo Iledare, popularly known as Jaywon, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the rising insecurity in his hometown, Okun, Kogi State. In a video shared on social media, the singer lamented that residents of Okun have been facing repeated attacks that have claimed lives, including those of police officers and vigilante members. According to him, the situation has left the community in fear and despair. “If those in uniform are not safe, what hope is left for the ordinary man?” Jaywon said, noting that three police officers and two vigilantes were recently killed in Yagba. Jaywon also questioned the use of Fulani men to guard communities, alleging that the same group is often accused of kidnappings and killings. He described the development as a failure of leadership and called on the President to take urgent action. The singer urged the federal government and security agencies to step in immediately, saying his people are in dire need of protection. He ended his appeal with the words: “Kogi is bleeding. Please save us.” At the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the police or the presidency on the killings or Jaywon’s plea.
