Nigerian reality TV personality and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has made history by clinching two Guinness World Records for her remarkable feat in the beauty industry.
The former Big Brother Naija star achieved the records for completing the most individual cosmetic makeovers within 24 hours, an event that took place on October 11 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Tacha’s makeup marathon was held behind a glass wall setup that allowed fans and onlookers to watch her artistry in real time. Within the first eight hours, she had already completed 82 full makeovers, and by the end of the 24-hour challenge, she had finished 144 makeovers — surpassing the previous record held by Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone.
Each participant received a full face beat, including foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eyebrow definition, lip liner, gloss, and finishing powder.
Despite meticulous preparation, the record-breaking attempt was not without obstacles. A nine-hour storm wreaked havoc on the setup, damaging screens and display materials, while power outages forced Tacha’s team to continue working under phone flashlights. Yet, the resilient makeup artist pressed on, refusing to let the challenges derail the goal.
Following a thorough review, Guinness World Records officially confirmed Tacha’s success, awarding her two certificates in recognition of the extraordinary accomplishment.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, Tacha expressed deep gratitude to her team and supporters, describing the moment as “a mix of joy, relief, and pride.” She dedicated the achievement to young girls, creatives, and dreamers, urging them to pursue their ambitions fearlessly.
“This record is not just mine,” she said. “It’s for every Nigerian woman and every African woman who believes she can achieve greatness through hard work and passion.”
