Spanish champions FC Barcelona will begin their La Liga title defense with a challenging away fixture against Athletic Bilbao on August 18, as the 2019/2020 season fixtures were revealed on Thursday.
Barcelona, who secured the 2018/2019 title with 87 points, will be looking for a stronger start against Bilbao after being held to draws in both meetings last season.
Real Madrid, who finished third last season, will open their campaign with a trip to Celta Vigo. Meanwhile, runners-up Atletico Madrid will host Getafe at the Wanda Metropolitano.
One of the season’s most anticipated clashes, the first El Clasico, between Barcelona and Real Madrid, is scheduled for October 27 at the Nou Camp, with the return fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 1, 2020. Real Madrid will also face local rivals Atletico Madrid on September 29.
