As the Super Eagles prepare for their crucial Round of 16 clash against long-time rivals, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, prominent football figures have called on the team to improve their performance. Dr. Eddie Mbadiwe, a well-known football fan in Enugu, has urged the Nigerian side to redouble their efforts following their disappointing loss to Madagascar in the group stage.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mbadiwe emphasized the need for the national team to work hard across all departments if they want to overcome the Cameroonians. “They need to wake up from the slumber of their last match with Madagascar and start working hard from all departments of the team,” he said.

Former Green Eagles goalkeeper Emmanuel Okala echoed Mbadiwe’s sentiments, stressing the importance of focus and coordination in the upcoming match. “Millions of Nigerians, including myself, are praying for their success… We know that the Cameroonians are a hard nut to crack, but they can be defeated,” said Okala, a member of Nigeria’s 1980 AFCON-winning squad.

Football fan Ifeanyi Okonkwo also urged the Super Eagles to redeem themselves after their surprising defeat by Madagascar. “We want the Super Eagles to come back in the tournament by winning Cameroon with a good number of goals,” he added.

The Super Eagles will face Cameroon in a highly anticipated match on Saturday, as they aim to advance to the quarterfinals of the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
