Former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Mercy Atang has officially confirmed that her marriage to David Oyekanmi has come to an end, putting months of speculation about their relationship to rest.
The reality star disclosed her marital status during an Instagram exchange after a follower complimented her beauty and asked whether she was still married.
The fan wrote: “Queen, hope you’re still married because Asa, you’re too beautiful to be single.”
Queen responded simply and firmly: “Single and unavailable.”
Rumours That Signalled Trouble
Speculation about the couple’s union first intensified in August when Queen and David unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Around this time, fans also noticed David appearing in photos without his wedding ring — a detail that added fuel to the growing rumours.
Queen later deleted their pictures together and removed his name from her bio, signalling deeper cracks in the marriage.
In October, their seven-month marriage appeared to hit another rough patch after Queen unfollowed David again. Yet, despite the signs, neither party publicly addressed the situation at the time.
Temporary Reconciliation Attempt
Though the situation seemed bleak, hope flickered briefly in December when Queen travelled to the UK to spend Christmas with David.
The couple shared sweet moments online, suggesting they were working through their issues.
Queen even hinted that she had resumed her “wifely duties,” while David reassured her publicly, promising to take care of her. Fans believed the pair had found a path back to stability.
A Short-Lived Marriage
Queen and David had a colourful introduction ceremony in Akwa Ibom attended by close friends and industry colleagues.

Shortly afterward, they legally formalised their union at the Federal Marriage Registry in Lagos before holding their wedding ceremony in March.
However, despite initial happiness and attempts at reconciliation, the marriage has now officially come to an end — as confirmed by Queen herself.
