Singer Rema begs ASUU to end its strike.

Divine Ikubor, better known by her stage name Rema, is a Nigerian musician who has begged the Academic Staff Union of Universities to end its current strike.

The Lady crooner stated in a tweet on Monday that he had not started his studies at the University of Lagos since being accepted.

“ASUU, I never started school o, e don’t do nau, since dem gave me admission!” He used pidgin to write.

The Mavin Records singer Rema informed his followers in January that he had been accepted to the University of Lagos.

He claims that even though he was becoming more and more well-known in the music business, his mother urged that he get a university degree.

Rema’s appeal was made a few days after students, acting through the Osun Campus Monitoring Committee of the National Association of University Students, urged the federal government and striking instructors to resume talks and find a solution to their differences.

On February 14, ASUU announced a four-week warning strike. In March, the action was prolonged by an additional eight weeks.

The union claims that the Federal Government’s inability to carry out the 2009 agreement between the parties was the reason behind the strike.

ASUU had further claimed that the federal government was opposing the implementation of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, a payment platform that the union had created to replace the federal government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System.
