‘She Spent $250k’ – Seun Kuti Alleges Woman Died At Redemption Camp After Trusting Pastor Adeboye’s Healing

Afrobeats musician Seun Kuti has stirred public debate after sharing a controversial account involving a prominent Nigerian family, faith healing, and the death of a woman who was reportedly battling terminal cancer.

In a video that has circulated widely on social media, Kuti recounted a story he claimed was told to him about a wealthy family who turned to spiritual intervention after exhausting medical options abroad. According to his narration, doctors overseas had reportedly informed the family that there were no further medical treatments available and advised them to prepare for the inevitable.

Kuti alleged that, unwilling to accept the prognosis, the family returned the woman to Nigeria and took her to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp, believing that prayers could reverse her condition. He described the camp as an environment filled with intense religious activities and repeated assurances that the woman would recover.

Despite days of prayers, Kuti claimed the woman eventually passed away at the camp, an outcome he said left her family devastated and in disbelief. He further alleged that, in the process, the family spent an estimated $250,000, driven by hope that spiritual healing would succeed where medicine had failed.

The singer went on to make a more serious claim, alleging that after the woman’s death, Pastor Enoch Adeboye instructed the grieving relatives to stop crying and kneel beside her body while he went inside to pray for her to be revived.

According to Kuti, after about an hour, there was no change, and the family was later told that it was God’s will and that they should return home.

Using the story to make a broader point, Kuti criticised the promotion of faith healing in cases of terminal illness.

He argued that encouraging families to rely solely on spiritual intervention can create false hope, leaving them emotionally unprepared for loss and burdened by long-term grief and financial strain.

He warned that situations like this, according to him, often end not in miracles but in profound pain, trauma, and significant monetary loss for those involved.
