The corridors of the Nigerian Senate are about to feel the weight of history again. After six months in political limbo, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to walk back into the Red Chamber, this time, not as a sidelined lawmaker, but as a symbol of resilience against political suppression.
Her comeback is not just another routine resumption. It is the result of a court ruling that branded her suspension unconstitutional and her treatment excessive. In other words, Natasha didn’t just return to the Senate, she fought her way back.
In an interview sighted by Frontpage.ng, Natasha’s counsel, Victor Giwa, disclosed that the Senator was on vacation in London but had already made plans to resume plenary alongside her colleagues when the Senate reconvenes on September 23.
The lawyer also stated that the Senate is ready to welcome Natasha and that no obstruction is expected upon her return.
He said: “Actually, she’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London. Everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption.
“We have been told that even the leadership of the Senate is ready to welcome her. So that’s the situation at the moment. There is no obstacle at all.”
According to Giwa, with the expiration of the suspension on Saturday, September 7, 2025, pending legal disputes would not hinder Natasha’s return to the Senate.
He added, “Everything will be resolved. Even the court cases will become like an academic exercise.”
The Road Back
* Court Victory: A Federal High Court nullified her suspension, affirming her right to representation.
* Sacrifice Made: For six months, she lost her allowances, office, and political privileges.
* Return Date: Her legal team confirmed she’ll resume September 23, after a brief London trip.
Her silence during the suspension wasn’t defeat, it was strategy. And now, her re-entry is set to shake Abuja’s power tables.
Tension In The Red Chamber
Natasha’s return raises a simple but loaded question: what happens when a voice the Senate tried to silence comes back louder?

She has a long-running clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who once dismissed her harassment claims and petitions as “dead on arrival.” Her reinstatement places her back in the same room as her fiercest critics, and that is where the drama begins.
What Comes Next
When Natasha returns on September 23, here are the flashpoints to watch:
* Her First Speech: Will she confront Akpabio or play the long game?
* Committee Work: Will she regain influence in policy-making committees?
* Public Support: Will Nigerians rally behind her, or has time dimmed her momentum?
* Opposition Dynamics: Could her presence strengthen opposition voices in the Senate?
More Than One Senator
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s journey isn’t just about her. It’s about how Nigeria treats voices that refuse to conform. Her fight is both personal and political, both Kogi and national.
As she takes her seat again, one thing is clear: **this is not just a return—it’s a reckoning.
