Salpha Energy, a Nigerian clean energy startup led by entrepreneur Sandra Chukwudozie, has secured a $1.3 million investment from All On, an impact investment company backed by Shell. This new funding aims to expand Salpha’s solar production capabilities and improve energy access for off-grid and underserved communities across Nigeria.

With this capital infusion, Salpha Energy plans to scale its solar assembly facility, introduce more efficient and affordable solar products, and reach deeper into rural communities still without reliable electricity.

Boosting Local Solar Production to Tackle Energy Poverty

Salpha Energy has already made a significant impact with its solar power systems, which range from 150 watts-peak (Wp) to 100 kilowatts-peak (kWp). These systems, complete with smart inverters and battery storage, have already reached over two million Nigerians.

Now, with this strategic investment, the company plans to reach even more people.

“This investment marks a major milestone in our mission to power homes and businesses with solar systems that are designed, assembled, and optimized right here in Africa,” said Salpha CEO Sandra Chukwudozie. “We are not just providing electricity—we are restoring dignity, driving productivity, and creating opportunities for the over 600 million people across sub-Saharan Africa who still live without power.”

All On Backs Local Innovation and Clean Energy Solutions

All On’s CEO, Caroline Eboumbou, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting Nigerian entrepreneurs who are creating innovative clean energy solutions.

“We are proud to provide local currency financing to address the chronic mismatch between revenue in local currency and capital in foreign currency that affects many local businesses,” said Eboumbou. “This investment is aligned with our mission to close Nigeria’s energy access gap by empowering indigenous enterprises with scalable impact.”

Salpha Energy is currently the only female-founded solar company in sub-Saharan Africa with a home system assembly plant, according to tech platform POCIT. Founder Sandra Chukwudozie started the company with a clear goal—to eliminate energy poverty in Nigeria’s low-income communities through clean, scalable, and context-specific solutions.

Before founding Salpha, Chukwudozie worked as a consultant with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and also served at the UN Headquarters in New York. She holds a degree in economics and political science from the University of Manchester.
