Moments after officially handing over to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, former Rivers caretaker administrator, Major General D. C. Ibas (rtd.), quietly exited the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Eyewitnesses noted that Ibas, who was appointed by President Tinubu to oversee the state during the emergency period, departed without ceremony, accompanied by a convoy of security operatives.
His exit marked the end of the brief federal administration of Rivers State, which lasted just weeks. The handover came after Tinubu lifted the state of emergency, restoring full powers to Governor Fubara.

Political watchers say Ibas’ low-key departure signals the conclusion of a tense chapter in Rivers politics, even as the state braces for new challenges.
