Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, is a Nigerian singer. He responded to an open invitation from Bowen University, saying that attending would protect him from the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike.

According to The PUNCH, the singer had already begged ASUU to end its current strike. The Lady crooner stated in a tweet on Monday that he had not started his studies at the University of Lagos since being accepted.

He wrote in pidgin, “ASUU, since dem give me admission I neva start school o, e don do nau!” Mavin Records singer Rema informed his followers in January that he has been accepted to the University of Lagos.
In response to the singer’s post, Bowen University, a private university in Iwo, Osun State, stated that Rema wouldn’t be delayed by the ASUU strike if he attended.

“ASUU can’t delay you if you’re enrolled in Bowen University,” stated the tweet.

In response to Bowen’s “open invitation,” Rema expressed his fascination with the school’s methodology and referred to it as a “Unilag private university.”

“I am blushing omg stop it, Unilag private university don dey toast me o,” he tweeted.

The Nigerian Baptist Convention owns and runs Bowen University, a private Christian university in Nigeria.
On February 14, ASUU announced a four-week warning strike. In March, the action was prolonged by an additional eight weeks.

The union claims that the Federal Government’s inability to carry out the 2009 agreement between the parties was the reason behind the strike.
