For LAIF 2022, organizers hope to receive over 700 entries.

The Advertising Agencies Association of Nigeria (AAAN), the event’s organizers, have announced that they anticipate a marked increase in entries for this year’s Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) over the more than 700 entries they received the previous year.

During a press briefing to introduce this year’s award program, Mr. Lanre Adisa, the chairman of the LAIF Management Board, recently voiced optimism in Lagos.

Adisa acknowledged that the board was grateful to the association’s current leadership and other pertinent parties for their continued support in keeping the creative award “alive,” but she also pointed out that this assistance has significantly improved the award’s legitimacy and equity.

He went on to say that the necessity to include all communications of major impact, including those beyond the country’s IMC’s sector, led to the decision to name the 2022 edition of the award, which is scheduled for November of this year in Lagos, “All Ideas Are Welcome.”

Adisa said that the award had continued to change, adding that the 2020 public health crisis had assisted the board in realigning the prizes and improving agency and individual involvement with more ease.

The head of Noah’s Ark went on to say that one of the highlights of this year’s celebration is the board’s resolve to broaden the scope of the prizes and incorporate pieces from Ghana, a neighboring West African nation, in an effort to give the festival a more international feel.

The Association’s President, Mr. Steve Babaeko, commended the awards jurors for “staying the course” over the previous three years and said that the jury, which included prominent figures from the country’s advertising sector, was carefully selected to increase the industry’s trust in the Awards process.

Despite the immense obstacles the industry faces, he complimented the board members for their striking accomplishments throughout the years.

The head of the AAAN continued, “The quality and volume of entries the industry receives each year attests to the festival’s continued popularity with the public.”
