A significant protest unfolded today at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as supporters of disqualified governorship aspirant, Kayode Ojo, expressed their dissatisfaction with the party’s decision to exclude him from the upcoming primary election.
Ojo, a prominent figure in the state’s political landscape, was among the two aspirants disqualified by the APC National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of the October 27 governorship primary.
The party cited non-compliance with constitutional and electoral requirements as the basis for the disqualification.
The protestors, numbering in the thousands, gathered at the secretariat, chanting slogans and displaying placards that read, “Say No to Injustice” and “Ojo is Our Choice.” They accused the party leadership of bias and manipulation in the selection process.
In response to the unrest, APC chieftain Honourable Bamidele Faparusi appealed for calm, urging disqualified aspirants to demonstrate loyalty and respect for the party’s supremacy.
He emphasized that consensus arrangements, such as the one favoring incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji, are not undemocratic and are aimed at strengthening party cohesion ahead of the 2026 election.

Governor Oyebanji, who was cleared to contest in the primary, has called for unity within the party, describing the contest as a “family affair” and urging all members to refrain from divisive actions.
As the primary election approaches, the APC faces the challenge of addressing internal dissent and ensuring a unified front to maintain its political dominance in Ekiti State.
