President Tinubu Summons Council of State and Police Council to Strategic Meeting

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for a joint strategic meeting with the Council of State and the Police Council to discuss issues of national security and governance.

The meeting is scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Council Chambers in the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock. According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Council of State meeting will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by the Police Council meeting at 2:00 pm.

The statement, signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the SGF’s office, Segun Imohiosen, said the meetings will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join either physically or virtually.

The announcement was made by Senator George Akume, the SGF, who also disclosed that the meeting will focus on critical national security matters.

Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, is coordinating the meetings.

The summoning of the Council of State and Police Council to deliberate on security issues comes at a time when the federal government is intensifying efforts to address ongoing security challenges in various parts of the country.
