This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, who explained that the identity of the deceased was determined following preliminary investigations.

Victim Checked in With Unknown Male Companion

According to SP Adeh, the investigation so far revealed that Aladi checked into the hotel on June 16, 2025, in the company of an unidentified man. Hotel surveillance and staff reports indicated that the man was later seen leaving the premises alone without the woman.

The lady checked into the hotel in the company of an unidentified male who was later observed to have exited the premises without her,” the statement read.

Hotel staff later discovered Aladi in an unconscious state during routine room service rounds and immediately contacted the police. Upon arrival and subsequent medical evaluation, the woman was confirmed dead.

CP Orders Full-Scale Investigation

The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the suspicious death of the young woman. According to SP Adeh, the CP has mandated the homicide unit and other relevant operatives to dig into the circumstances that led to the tragic discovery.

In a swift response to the tragic incident, the CP has ordered a comprehensive and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death,” she stated.

The police also assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring justice for the victim, and appealed for anyone with useful information to assist the investigation.

Public Caution and Hotel Security Advised

As part of a broader safety advisory, the CP urged young women to exercise caution in their social engagements, particularly when interacting with unfamiliar individuals. He further advised that individuals should always share their location or plans with family members or trusted friends as a precautionary measure.

“The CP advises young ladies to be vigilant and cautious, especially when dealing with strangers. Always let someone know your whereabouts,” SP Adeh emphasized.

In addition, the police called on hotel operators to enhance internal security measures, stressing the importance of proper identity verification procedures for all guests. The CP also recommended the installation of functional surveillance systems as a key step toward deterring crime and aiding investigations in the event of incidents.

Hotel operators must strengthen their internal security protocols, ensure mandatory identity verification for guests, and install effective CCTV systems,” the CP noted.

Commitment to Justice

While extending his condolences to the bereaved family, CP Adewale reaffirmed the commitment of the FCT Police Command to bringing the perpetrator(s) of the heinous crime to justice.

Efforts are already underway to trace and identify the unknown male companion last seen with the deceased. Investigators are reportedly analyzing hotel CCTV footage, guest records, and other relevant forensic evidence to piece together the final moments leading to Aladi Johnson’s death.

As the investigation continues, the FCT Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and await the outcome of the inquiry. They also encouraged members of the public with any relevant information to contact the nearest police station or the official FCT Command helpline.

This incident adds to the growing concern over violence against women in hospitality settings, highlighting the urgent need for better protective systems both from security agencies and within the hospitality industry itself.
