PDP Begins Delegate Compilation Ahead of Ibadan Convention

FCT Director Explains PDP's 28-Year Ground Rent Arrears and Property Revocation

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has officially launched its delegate‑compilation process as it prepares for its national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The announcement came during a meeting of the convention’s Protocol Subcommittee in Abuja, led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, who chairs the PDP National Convention Organising Committee.

Promise of Transparency, But Skepticism Lingers

Governor Fintiri emphasized that the party is committed to fairness, internal democracy, and transparency.

He reassured party members that “we will not leave any stone unturned” in ensuring the process is credible.

He also insisted that all aspirants who purchased nomination forms will be screened — so long as their documents are in order and there are no past encumbrances.

The Fintiri camp further announced plans to publicly release the names of delegates and subcommittee members, in an effort to allay fears of favoritism or backroom arrangements.

Still, in a party long haunted by internal rifts, many will be watching closely. The balancing act between inclusion and control will be delicate.

Voices from the Protocol Desk

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, who chairs the Protocol Subcommittee, pledged that the convention’s preparations reflect the PDP’s renewed vitality.

He remarked that the Ibadan convention is a symbolic moment in the party’s push to reassert itself as Nigeria’s main opposition force.

Mutfwang highlighted that while protocol work is often hidden behind the scenes, it plays a vital role: “If you see any well‑organised meeting, it’s because protocol was well handled.”
