The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, failed to appear before the police on Monday despite an official invitation over allegations involving multiple sexual offences and actions deemed capable of disturbing public order.
According to reports, the cleric was expected to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Lagos, by 10:00 a.m., following a directive from the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department.
The Lagos State Police Command had earlier confirmed the invitation in a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi. She disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations made against the pastor after several complaints were lodged with the command.
Police authorities explained that the complaints centred on alleged sexual misconduct and other actions considered capable of breaching public peace. The command also stated that protective measures had been put in place for the alleged victims and encouraged them to report to the SCID to assist with ongoing investigations, assuring them of confidentiality and safety.
However, as of Monday evening, Okafor had not presented himself at the SCID. A senior police officer at the department, who requested anonymity, confirmed that investigators waited throughout the day without success.
“After the Commissioner’s directive on Sunday, the Deputy Commissioner immediately instructed officers handling the matter to prepare for his appearance. They waited, but he did not show up,” the officer said.
Another police source revealed that representatives allegedly contacted the command on the pastor’s behalf to request additional time.
“Some individuals reached out to appeal for more time, assuring the police that he would still honour the invitation,” the source disclosed.
Meanwhile, none of the alleged victims or witnesses reportedly appeared at the SCID on Monday to provide statements or formally identify themselves, according to police sources.
Attempts to reach the police spokesperson for an official update were unsuccessful, as phone calls and text messages sent to Adebisi went unanswered as of the time of reporting.
The matter first gained public attention in mid-December 2025 after a series of allegations against Okafor circulated widely on social media. One of the most prominent claims came from Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged in Instagram videos posted on December 14, 2025, that she had been involved in a long-term sexual relationship with the pastor beginning in 2017. She further accused him of unfulfilled marital promises, sharing private content, and contributing to the breakdown of her former marriage.
In response to the growing controversy, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, admitting to past “mistakes” and publicly seeking forgiveness while kneeling at the altar.

The scandal has continued to ripple through religious circles, with reports indicating that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is weighing possible disciplinary measures. The pastor is also said to have temporarily stepped aside from his ministerial duties as investigations and public scrutiny persist.
