Oyo Police Unveil Security Plan for PDP Convention

The Oyo State Police Command has unveiled a comprehensive security operation ahead of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention, set to take place on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In a statement shared on 𝕏 on Friday and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the police confirmed that they are intensifying efforts to guarantee a secure and incident-free convention, which is expected to draw top politicians, international observers, media houses, and hundreds of party delegates from across the country.

According to the Command, a “robust, multi-layered security strategy” has been developed in coordination with sister agencies to effectively manage the anticipated large turnout and maintain order throughout the event.

The security plan includes:

* High-visibility patrols across strategic areas

* Enhanced surveillance systems activated within the city

* Intelligence-led stop-and-search operations

* Heightened security at all entry and exit routes into Oyo State**

The police further disclosed that sensitive areas—including public parks, railway terminals, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport—will be under close supervision throughout the convention.

To reduce traffic pressure around the venue, residents and motorists were strongly advised to avoid the Adamasingba axis during the two-day gathering.

“We encourage members of the public to explore alternative routes to avoid disruptions to their movement plans,” the statement noted.

The Command also issued a stern warning against any conduct that could threaten public peace. It emphasized that unauthorized gatherings, protests, or activities capable of causing unrest will not be allowed before, during, or after the convention.

Reiterating its commitment to public safety, the Command urged residents to support ongoing efforts by obeying all guidelines and cooperating with security officers across the state.

“For the safety of everyone attending or affected by this significant national event, we call on the public to maintain peace and promptly report suspicious activities,” the statement added.
