Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a strong warning that he may return to Nigeria if authorities fail to address what he described as escalating insecurity in Yoruba communities.
Igboho’s reaction followed the reported killing of two people in his hometown of Igboho, located in Oyo State. The incident, he said, further validated long-standing concerns he has raised about violent attacks allegedly carried out by armed Fulani assailants in the region.
In a statement released after the attack, Igboho expressed frustration over what he called years of ignored warnings. He noted that for more than four years, he had drawn attention to recurring violence and killings in Yoruba areas, but claimed that little or no meaningful action had been taken by the authorities.
“The killing of two innocent residents today shows that the situation has not improved,” he said. “Our people are still living in fear, while those responsible for these attacks continue to move freely.”
According to him, insecurity has become a constant reality in Igboho and nearby communities, forcing many indigenous residents to flee their ancestral homes to avoid being targeted. He described the situation as a clear failure of the government’s responsibility to protect lives and property.
Igboho urged both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to urgently intervene by strengthening security measures and restoring peace to the affected areas. He warned that continued inaction could leave communities exposed to further violence.

“If the government does not act decisively to protect my people, I will have no choice but to return home to defend them,” he stated.
