NSCDC Kano Command Arrests Six Suspects for Transformer Vandalism and Motorcycle Theft

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has detained six individuals over alleged acts of vandalism and theft. Three suspects were apprehended at Na’ibawa Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government Area for vandalising and stealing multi-million-naira transformer armored cables, according to a statement released on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi. Those detained included Lawan Ahmed from Unguwa Uku Quarters, Ahmad Yusuf from Kawo Quarters, and Mujahid Kabiru from Kofar Waika. The suspects were arrested along with individuals who had allegedly agreed to purchase the stolen cables.

Abdullahi confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover additional suspects linked to this cable theft syndicate.

In a related operation, the NSCDC also arrested three individuals suspected of motorcycle theft within Kano State. Among them, Abdulrazaq Umar, 30, and Aminu Shehu Muhammad, 42, were detained at Unity Road, Kano, while attempting to unlock a parked motorcycle. The third suspect, Musa Ibrahim, 30, was apprehended at Kwanar Gafan in Garun Malam Local Government Area after allegedly disassembling and stealing a motorcycle key.

All six suspects are now in the custody of the NSCDC’s investigation department, and Abdullahi confirmed that they would face court charges upon the completion of investigations.
