Actors, producers and other stakeholders in the Nollywood industry on Thursday gathered to pay their final respects to late actress and filmmaker, Allwell Ademola, during a solemn prayer session and Service of Songs held in her honour.
Videos from the event circulating on social media captured several of her colleagues united in prayer and reflection, as they celebrated her life and contributions to the film industry. Among those who took part in the wrap prayer were actors Afeez Abiodun, Rotimi Salami and Kunle Afod.
The atmosphere at the gathering was emotional, with moments of worship, tears and heartfelt tributes, as friends and associates remembered the impact Ademola made during her time in Nollywood.
Speaking at the event, Rotimi Salami, who was widely regarded as one of her closest colleagues, delivered a moving address. He asked for forgiveness on behalf of the late filmmaker and encouraged attendees to continue praying for the repose of her soul. He also urged members of the industry to remain united and uphold the legacy she left behind.
Several prominent Nollywood personalities were in attendance, including Odunlade Adekola, Saheed Balogun, Bolaji Amusan, Abiola Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Fausat Balogun, Eniola Ajao and Fathia Balogun.
Most mourners were dressed in customised white T-shirts bearing Ademola’s photograph, symbolising solidarity and remembrance.
According to burial arrangements released by her family, the Service of Songs was followed by preparations for a candlelight procession. An Artistes’ Night was also scheduled later in the evening, with closing remarks expected by 11 p.m.
The final burial ceremony is slated for Friday at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos State.

Allwell Ademola died on December 27 after reportedly suffering a heart attack at her residence, leaving the Nollywood community in mourning.
