The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that operations have fully resumed on the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System after repairs were completed on the section affected by an explosion earlier this month.
The incident, which occurred on December 10, 2025, disrupted activities on the vital pipeline located in Warri, Delta State. However, NNPCL says the damaged segment has now been repaired, thoroughly tested, and safely returned to service.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, announced that the pipeline is once again functioning normally, reassuring the public of NNPCL’s commitment to sustaining Nigeria’s energy supply and protecting the environment.
Odeh explained that emergency protocols were immediately activated following the explosion, allowing response teams to contain the situation and prevent further risks.
According to him, engineers and safety experts worked around the clock to restore the facility, ensuring that all necessary technical and safety checks were completed before recommissioning.
He noted that the swift turnaround demonstrated NNPCL’s capacity to manage emergencies involving critical national infrastructure and minimise disruptions to operations.
The spokesperson attributed the successful restoration to strong cooperation among host communities, regulatory bodies, security agencies, and other key stakeholders, describing the collective effort as instrumental to the outcome.
Odeh also emphasised that safety and environmental protection remained central throughout the repair process, adding that the company adhered strictly to industry standards while carrying out the work.
Looking ahead, NNPCL reaffirmed its resolve to safeguard its assets and the communities around them, pledging continued investment in infrastructure protection and operational reliability.
