Nigeria and India have signed three significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to bolster cooperation in cultural exchange, survey cooperation, and customs collaboration. The signing ceremony took place on Friday in Abuja, with Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dumoma Ahmed, and India’s Secretary of Economic Relations, Dammu Ravi, representing their respective nations.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ahmed highlighted the deep-rooted partnership between Nigeria and India, underscoring their shared history, cultural connections, and mutual commitment to democratic and economic progress. He noted that the MoUs symbolize a renewed dedication to strengthening bilateral relations, building on recent engagements such as President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the G20 Summit and the anticipated visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“These agreements reflect our shared vision for growth, innovation, and sustainable development,†Ahmed said, emphasizing the importance of effective implementation to fully realize the benefits of the partnerships. He commended the efforts of both countries’ negotiating teams in reaching the milestone agreements.
Ahmed further stated, “The success of these MoUs depends not only on the agreements we sign today but also on the commitment to ensuring their provisions are implemented. I am confident that stakeholders from both countries will collaborate to ensure these agreements bring tangible benefits to our people.â€
The MoUs are expected to deepen cultural ties, enhance economic cooperation, and streamline customs practices, further cementing the longstanding relationship between the two nations. Both sides expressed optimism about the impact of these agreements on fostering innovation, sustainable development, and mutual growth.
