Victor Osimhen Included on Manchester United’s Summer Transfer Shortlist

Victor Osimhen has been added to Manchester United’s shortlist for a striker in the summer transfer window. The Premier League club aims to strengthen its attack after facing struggles with current forwards. According to FRONTPAGE  Sports Extra, Manchester United plans to explore the transfer market for this purpose.

Manchester United’s Forward Struggles Spark Transfer Interest

Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have faced difficulties in finding their best form this season. Zirkzee has scored just six goals in 44 appearances since joining from Bologna. Meanwhile, Hojlund has netted only eight goals in 39 matches across all competitions. These struggles have contributed to Manchester United’s attack being inefficient. The team has scored only 37 goals in 29 Premier League matches. As a result, Manchester United has been outscored by 13 teams in the league.

Osimhen’s Stellar Form at Galatasaray

Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen has been in exceptional form, scoring 26 goals in 30 matches. He has netted 20 goals in 22 league games, making him the top scorer in the Super Lig. Although Osimhen is set to return to Napoli in the summer, reports suggest he will leave permanently before the 2025/26 season. Despite interest from several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Osimhen is reportedly eager to join Manchester United.

Other Strikers on Manchester United’s Radar

In addition to Osimhen, Manchester United is eyeing Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres. Gyokeres has demonstrated impressive goalscoring ability, and manager Ruben Amorim, his former coach at Sporting Lisbon, has seen his potential. Manchester United is also monitoring two Bundesliga forwards: Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt. Sesko has scored 17 goals and contributed six assists in 36 matches this season. Ekitike has netted 19 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances, including 13 goals in 25 Bundesliga games.

Napoli Considers Hojlund as Osimhen Replacement

Napoli is reportedly looking at Rasmus Hojlund as a possible replacement for Osimhen. This could be part of their plans to secure a new forward ahead of next season.

Osimhen Focused on World Cup Qualifiers

Osimhen is currently with the Super Eagles for World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. He is determined to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Osimhen said, “It’s a dream of every footballer to play at the World Cup.” He also added, “We can’t afford another disappointment like in 2022. We must qualify for the next tournament.”
