Tragedy struck in the Ikosi area of Lagos State on Saturday as two factory workers, who were trapped in a diesel reservoir while carrying out repair work, were confirmed dead. Despite efforts to rescue and provide medical attention, both victims succumbed to their injuries.

The incident occurred around 10 a.m., according to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the workers accidentally fell into the diesel reservoir while on duty. In a bid to rescue his colleague, the second worker also fell into the reservoir.
Rescue Efforts
The victims were rescued by officials of LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire Service. They were quickly evacuated and transported to the hospital for further medical attention.
Oke-Osanyintolu explained, “The two male adults earlier rescued this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, despite all sustained medical efforts, later died.”
